Free Pet Microchip Clinic & New 24/7 Scanning Station Oldsmar Fire Station 54
Oldsmar just made it a whole lot easier to bring lost pets home.
Oldsmar Fire Rescue and Pinellas County have launched what is believed to be the county's very first public, self-service pet microchip scanning station - permanently installed outside Fire Station 54 and accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. And to celebrate the launch, a free microchip clinic is happening this Saturday!
The scanning station was made possible through a donation by local Girl Scouts from Troop 31816 of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida as a Bronze Award project titled "Helping Lost Pets Get Home Faster." If you find a lost dog or cat, bring it to the station at any hour - on-site instructions walk you through how to scan the pet, read the ID number, and contact the microchip registry to reunite the animal with its owner. No waiting for animal control or a vet clinic to open.
