🎉 Big News for Oldsmar Families! 🎒📚
Huge changes are coming to middle school options right here in Oldsmar - and it’s great news for local families!
As of February 24, 2026, the Pinellas County School Board has officially approved a plan to expand Oldsmar Elementary into a K–8 school. That means kids can stay in one familiar, local school from kindergarten all the way through 8th grade. 🙌
✨ Here’s how it will roll out:
📅 Starting in the 2026–27 school year
Phase 1: Current 5th graders can choose to stay for 6th grade
Phases 2 & 3: 7th and 8th grades will be added over the following two years
By 2028, Oldsmar Elementary will be a full K–8 campus
🏫 Where will the middle school grades be?
Right on the existing Oldsmar Elementary campus, using currently underused classrooms - no new long commutes required!
🚌 What about school choice?
Families in the Oldsmar Elementary zone will still have options. You can choose to stay at Oldsmar for middle school or attend your zoned schools like Carwise Middle or Safety Harbor Middle.

This change helps address declining enrollment and gives Oldsmar families a more local, convenient, and community-centered middle school option—less time commuting, more time being kids.
