Alton Oldsmar Update: The Sale is Done : Here's What It Means for the Flea Market

This is an update to our earlier post: 3 Major New Developments Coming to Oldsmar in 2026

When we first wrote about Alton Oldsmar back in April, the big question was whether the sale would actually happen. At the time, Kolter Multifamily had submitted a bid to purchase 13.2 acres of the Oldsmar Flea Market property … but they didn't own it yet.

‍ ‍

That's changed.

‍ ‍

On July 1, 2026, The Kolter Group officially purchased the 13-acre southern portion of the Oldsmar Flea Market property, paying $13.9 million. The deal is done. Alton Oldsmar is moving forward.

‍ ‍

So What Happens to the Flea Market?

‍ ‍

Here's the part that will come as a relief to a lot of Oldsmar residents: the flea market isn't going anywhere. The Oldsmar Flea Market announced on July 2 that it will continue operating following the sale. Market operations have been consolidated into the remaining northern portion of the property, and the flea market remains open every weekend from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

‍ ‍

In short - the flea market is smaller, but it's staying. Vendors and visitors can continue enjoying one of Tampa Bay's longest-running weekend destinations from the remaining portion of the property.

‍ ‍

That's meaningful news for the vendors who've been anxious about their futures, and for the thousands of shoppers who've made the flea market part of their weekend routine for decades. We wrote about this uncertainty in depth in Is It Over for the Oldsmar Flea Market? - and for now, the answer is no.

What's Next for Alton Oldsmar?

‍ ‍

The 279-unit apartment community is now officially in Kolter's hands. The project will occupy the southern 13 acres of the property at 180 Race Track Road and will include five buildings, a pool, clubhouse, fitness center, dog park, and retail space. Construction is expected to begin at a date not yet announced.
